Admission Policies and Procedures
New Discovery International School is a private non-sectarian school in Saqaraa that welcomes students from KG1 to Grade 12. We appreciate diversity; applicants, students, or staff are fairly treated regardless of gender, race, religion, nationality, ethnicity, money, or political beliefs. We're looking for applicants and families who will bring a positive and diverse vibe to our school.
To apply for KG1 or KG2 at New Discovery , parents typically have a meeting with the school General Director and their child goes through a face-to-face interview. During this interview, we assess the child's verbal skills, physical abilities, fine motor skills, and social and emotional readiness. We use our own checklists to assess if the child is ready for kindergarten classes.
Please note that for KG1, children must be 3 years old by December 31, and they should be toilet-trained and no longer using a baby bottle by the first day of school in September.
As for admissions to apply for elementary, middle, and secondary classes, parents will have a meeting with the school principal. Additionally, the applicant will be asked to take placement tests in English and Mathematics.
These tests will evaluate the student's proficiency in English and Mathematics. It's important to note that for expatriate (Expats) and dual national students, the submission of the MOE Exemption (from taking the Grade 9 official MOE exam)
If an applicant's scores in the Math and English entrance exams fall below our school's expectations, there could be additional entry requirements. These
requirements might involve attending a summer course program.
Based on the reassessment at the end of the summer program the student may be enrolled during the school year in English as a Second Language classes as intervention program
- To start the application process, the parents contact the admission officer via email or telephone call to arrange an interview with Principal.
- Parents fill in the application form at the admission office.
- The admission officer proceeds by requesting all necessary documents including the certified report card from the past school years along with a non-refundable application fee, and parents are notified with the date of the entrance exam.
- Subject Leaders review Elementary, Middle, and Secondary school applications and candidates. In some cases, if concerns arise about the candidate's learning needs, a second interview with parents may be arranged, during which concerns and action plans are discussed, and additional information may be requested (e.g., medical or psychoeducational reports)
- The admission officer communicates the final admission decision to parents/guardians.
- Accepted applicants must complete their files by submitting required documents and paying the registration fees within 2 weeks.
- For students with special needs, another meeting with parents is arranged, involving the Head of departments during which the appropriate support plan (Individualized Education Plan or other) and contract are discussed.
- Processing of Applicant's Documents:
- A hard file is prepared for each student that includes the required documents, the assessment materials, and results, with a document checklist to track progress.
- The admission officer transfers applicant information into the registry sheet, ensuring accuracy.
- Reports from accounting confirm fee payments, and reminders are sent to parents with outstanding fees.
- Parents choose the transportation method for their child to get to school.
- Once the offer is accepted, all necessary payments are made, and admission documents are finalized the admission officer provides correct student names to:
- Academic heads and Dean for section assignment and notification to teachers.
- IT Department for New Discovery email setup and registration on academic platforms(Classera).
- Doctor for medical forms and review of admissions medical information.
- Accounting for dues and payment follow-up.
- Front Office for contact details registration (addresses, emails, and phone numbers) for communication purposes

- Location of the uniform store
- List of supplies needed (kindergarten classes)
